Linking to Other Websites
The kids.ri.gov website uses the following to determine if and when we link to external websites and resources:
- The website's content and/or services must be relevant to the audiences and authoritative/useful. (We consider the credentials of the authors or creators of the content.) The website's information is clear, simple, accurate and current, and the dates of content creation and/or its last update are displayed.
- We know what type of organization is responsible for the site (non-profit, commercial, government). If it is a .com site, it should provide a unique and valuable service. If it is a non-profit, it documents its 501(c)3 status.
- The primary intent of the website is to educate and inform, rather than to persuade, convert, or sell.
- The site does not contain promotion of products. (Some sites may include advertising.)
- The agency’s mission, source(s) of funding, leadership, and author credentials are clearly stated.
- The website has a clearly stated policy regarding the privacy of personal information, and they do not sell or use personal information for an unauthorized purpose.
kids.ri.gov does not refer or link to websites related to malpractice, to injuries potentially resulting from human or corporate errors, or to recruitment or identification of patients or families that have suffered from such injuries or errors.
kids.ri.gov reserves the right to prioritize, limit, and/or remove links to external websites. Linking to and external website does not imply endorsement of an organization or its individual programs or services, nor does omission reflect disapproval. While we strive to maintain accurate information, error-free links cannot be guaranteed.
